Why Criminal Minds: Suspected behavior canceled after one season

Here's why Criminal Minds The suspect's behavior only lasted one season. CBS is a network with an affair with actions and given the phenomenal success of many of these shows it's easy to see why. NCIS's beginnings were rather humble before it became one of the most popular shows on television featuring spin-offs like NCIS Los Angeles. The same goes for CSI and Hawaii Five 0 both of which had multiple branches. However, despite the success of Criminal Minds the show never managed to launch a hit show. The thriller debuted in 2005 and quickly became a huge hit even after star Mandy Patinkin abruptly left Criminal Minds after two seasons. The show eventually ran for 15 seasons although plans are already underway to revive some of the original cast. The show premiered in the form of Criminal Minds Suspected Behavior and the show's crew was introduced during the fifth season episode of the main series.

Featured in that tailgate pilot episode was the Behavioral Analysis Units red cell team led by Forest Whitaker agent Sam Cooper. Criminal Minds Suspected Behavior arrived in 2011 and outside of Whitaker he had an impressive supporting cast including future Constantine star Matt Ryan and Michael Kelly with Kristen Vangsens also casting the role of Penelope Garcia from the main series. Despite being episodic to one of the television's most popular actions and titled by a famous cast comments about the suspect's behavior were tepid and it was canceled after thirteen episodes due to low ratings. Criminal Minds Suspect Behavior got off to a good start in the ratings but interest soon waned. Despite having such a great cast the group never came together in the same way that the BAUs team from Criminal Minds did plus the basic concept didn't really different enough from the main series to set them apart. Sadly for those viewers who got into suspicious behavior, it ended up being a major issue with the unresolved fate of Janine Garofalo's agent Beth Griffith.

Another spin-off was attempted in 2015 with Criminal Minds Beyond Borders led by Gary Sinise and Anna Jean. This series goes to great lengths to confuse the criminal minds formula as Amber Heard once appeared following a team of international FBI agents solving crimes involving American citizens in foreign countries. Beyond Borders managed to secure a second season but it was eventually canceled in 2017. Criminal Minds Suspect Behavior was a rookie show that didn't come together and didn't find its own identity outside of its predecessor.
