Family Guy Creepypasta Meme Ignites Online Debate Over Whether the Show Is Actually Funny
One meme mocking Family Guy seems to have turned into a debate about whether the show was actually funny. Twitter user @Dog2e11400 posted the meme on June 2 2022 which contains a photo of Chris Griffin with white eyes and streaks of blood and his hand on Meg's shoulder. The accompanying text reads This post is cursed. If you don't comment on Family Guy it's funny you will die in 24 hours. The image is a surreal parody of an email chain a form of spam that involves users repeating or forwarding a series of texts to others. On June 3 a funny Family Guy movie ended up on Twitter as users began defending and attacking the animated series. However, the majority of responses were in support of the show with some users posting more memes while others explained their reasoning behind why they enjoyed the series.
Several users in responses to @Dog2e11400s post were quick to repeat the phrase some even including images of them that are equally bizarre show related and unrelated to the show. Highlights include a video ad for a Minecraft Bible School a highly expressive replay of Brian Griffin getting hit by a car and even a second long clip of SpongeBob crying with a sad sound effect. Family Guy is a comedy series created by Seth MacFarlane in 1999. The show which takes place in the fictional town of Quahog in Rhode Island focuses on the Griffin family as they go through their strange lives. Often seen as a parody of the USA he frequently references and criticizes pop culture and society in general. After 20 seasons and eight Emmy Awards, the show has received widespread critical acclaim spawning outlets outside of television including live shows video games, and comics.
Despite the series' success Family Guy has yet to make the leap to the big screen. While there are currently no known plans to develop a film based on the series creator Seth MacFarlane has stated that it is a project hed like to see come to fruition. We've been talking about this for ten years MacFarlane explained. Family Guy is still on my to-do list...I have a pretty good idea of what it would be like. I've had it for a while. But I haven't had it.
