The CW Legacies show was canceled after four seasons. The fantasy drama series was a spin-off of The Originals which itself was a spin-off of The Vampire Diaries. Legacies featured characters from the previous series and given their association with The Vampire Diaries which was one of the CW's most popular shows the show's cancellation came as a surprise. Deadline reported that The CW decided not to continue another season as the network was making some tough decisions as it prepared to sell. This despite being the show that viewers wanted to renew.

Legacies are currently in its fourth season. The final episode of the season will air on June 16. It will also serve as the conclusion to the series. This fall will be the first time in 13 years that a show from the original Vampire Diaries series won't is on The CW's schedule for the new season. Julie Blake creator and executive producer of The Vampire Diaries has shared fans' despair with the cancellation series taking place on The CW. She tweeted Today is WBTV/CWs Red Wedding. There's a lot to say but not today. So much gratitude to fans cast and crew in future tweets. But today were grieving.

As the third series in the Vampire Diaries universe Legacies has a lot of history. Follow Hope Mikaelson daughter of Klaus Mikaelson and Hayley Marshall both central characters of The Originals. In the fourth season of The Vampire Diaries, it is revealed that the werewolf Hayley played by Phoebe Tonkin whom Klaus Joseph Morgan played drunk one night is pregnant with his child. Hope his daughter is the central figure of the legacies. Descended from some of the most powerful lineages of vampires werewolves and witches.

The show is set two years after the events of The Originals. 17-year-old Hope attends Salvatore School for the Young and Gifted. The school provides training for young supernatural beings who can learn to control their own abilities and impulses. The last three episodes of the series will be broadcast weekly starting June 2. The show has a dedicated fan base and Deadline also reported that The CW was willing to renew those shows but the studios behind it Warner Bros. didn't for commercial reasons as they were trying to keep their roster profitable. But Legacies isn't the only show to be removed from The CW's schedule. Other non-returning shows include Batwoman DCs Legends of Tomorrow 4400 Roswell New Mexico Dynasty and Charmed.
