Seth MacFarlane Family Guy remembers the shooting of Johnny Bravo


Long before co-creating the popular Fox comedy series Family Guys Seth MacFarlane was part of the Johnny Bravo crew and looking forward to his launch from the 90s animated show. The Cartoon Network series created by Van Partible focused on the life of Johnny Bravo a self-proclaimed muscular womanizer loosely inspired by Elvis Presley whose voice is akin to music legend James Dean. Johnny Bravo follows the character as he tries and fails to get women to dating him and finds him stuck in a variety of strange situations.

Johnny Bravo is voiced by Jeff Bennett also known for his work in Brooklyn on Disneys Jargues and Kowalski on Nickelodeon The Penguins of Madagascar series. With four seasons on Cartoon Network, Johnny Bravo has enjoyed a lasting legacy with those who grew up with the character as well as receiving generally positive reviews for his cool adult humor and pop culture references which have included famous guests such as Adam West. Shaquille ONeal Seth Green and Donnie Osmond. Johnny Bravo will also help launch the careers of several then-unknown writers and creators and one is now looking forward to their time with the series. In the latest episode of the Wired's Autocomplete series of interviews, wasn't Seth MacFarlane walking down memory lane to answer many questions from fans online. When asked about his work on Johnny Bravo MacFarlane confirmed that it was one of the first projects of his career until he and several crew members were fired from the show. As MacFarlane points out he which the only creator behind Johnny Bravo Season 1 which was abandoned when the show was on hold for two years and Warner Bros. launched. which recently acquired Turner Broadcasting the original Van Partible creator of the show. Animaniacs Pinky and the Brain alum Kirk Tingblad later for a second season with a major remake of the show resulting in a change in its visual style tone and humor. Partible would eventually return for season 4 of Johnny Bravo in 2004 bringing the show back to the original tone and style of the source shorts and season 1 which served as the final season.

Family Gus Seth MacFarlane wasn't the only big talent to hit the ground running after getting kicked out of Johnny Bravos' first season. Butch Hartman went on to work on Oh Yeah! From Nickelodeon. The cartoon and creation of the hit movie The Fairly OddParents which also starred writer Steve Marmel and director John McIntyre went on to serve as supervising director on another Cartoon Network project The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack. While fans will have time to wait until Family Guy returns they can expect MacFarlane's The Orville to finally return for Season 3 on Hulu on June 2.
