Will the legacies lead to another major death in the series finale after the latest tragedy?

Legacies are preparing for an epic battle against the god Qin and we've already seen our first casualty in the war. After Cleo rejects Kanes offer to surrender Hope God retaliates by killing Caleb with a heart stake. Caleb is presumed to be gone and he may not be the only student who has fallen before the credits expire. It's also clear that Lizzie is destined to die at the end of the series but will the CW series deliver this other big death before it bows out? Salvatores students spent weeks analyzing probabilities using the Vardemus magical device and finally calculating the best way to defeat Kane. Unfortunately, the best-case scenario they must win at this point is if Lizzie uses her police power to distract Kane's magic while the students unleash a massive explosion. There is a possibility that Lizzie will survive the explosion due to her abilities but there is a higher chance that she will die. Lizzie has made her peace with this and after consulting with Caroline Josie who never appears on screen and Alaric she is ready to sacrifice her life.

Legacies fans know the risks but they may be wondering if the show will actually kill one of its biggest stars. If a new season is on the way Id say Lizzie is definitely doomed but only because that's the legacies and there are so many ways to revive the characters. However, with the final series ahead of us, it seems like a disappointing ending to sending things off with Lizzie dying. Do we really want the show to end knowing MJ is going to be miserable for the rest of his days? One thing we do know courtesy of CW President and CEO Mark Bedowitz is that Legacies knew the end might have been near. In a press conference ahead of The CWs previews via TV Guide Pedowitz confirmed that he told Legacies creator Julie Plec that the show was at risk of being canceled in advance saying

In short, the answer to whether Lizzie lives or dies can ultimately depend on what viewers think Julie Plec who referred to the cancellation as a red wedding and those who were on the show wanted to do. Keep in mind that The Vampire Diaries killed Stefan Salvatore at its end and The Originals also concluded with some big deaths so there's a precedent for the deaths of the main characters in the franchise's endings. However, the fact that Lizzie's death is so seamlessly telegraphed makes it seem like she wouldn't be the one to die after all. Those statistical possibilities don't mean much in a fantasy show with a lot of supernatural elements anyway so I won't write any eulogies for the character online just yet. Legacies premieres on The CW Thursday at 900 p.m. ET only two episodes left so be sure to tune in and watch the other new shows coming this summer to find something to watch when it's all over.
