Why did Duane Henry leave NCIS?
Before NCIS actor Henry was on several series including Doctors The Cut Desperados Dubplate Drama and The Bill to name a few. It remained a series regular for two seasons until the penultimate episode of Season 15 when it came out unexpectedly. While many actors choose to leave a show to explore other opportunities this has not been the case for Henry. Henry's character Clayton was created by NCIS model Gary Glassberg who auditioned for the 37-year-old actor for the role. Sadly Glasberg passed away in 2016 at the age of 50 leaving the rest of the show's creators unsure of what he planned for Clayton. This confusion eventually led them to choose to remove the agent from the drama altogether. Henry previously spoke about the decision to kill his character in NCIS. Opening up to TV Line Henry said in 2018 Clayton was a creation of Gary he created this character. So when Gary passed away at the beginning of season 14 I had some panic on people's faces. I realized they weren't really sure what the future holds. She understood my directions and thought What will happen to the character now?
However, Henry admitted he was pleased with his latest story saying You couldn't ask for a better outing. In the episode, One Step Forward Clayton's guest stars as Abby Sciuto Pauley Perrette as well as one at a new restaurant that goes wrong after he finishes his meal. While the fellows were returning home a robber ambushed them and pointed a gun at Clayton and Abby asking for money. Clayton hands her his wallet but Abby wants to talk to him saying she can help him. This antagonizes the attacker and a shot is fired ending the loop with a huge shutter. But at the start of the final fifteenth season, Clayton's body was shown in the autopsy room when he apparently jumped in front of Abby took the bullet, and unfortunately killed himself in the process. Since leaving NCIS Henry has a few other credits under his belt according to his IMDb page. He had a minor role as a soldier in the 2019 movie Captain Marvel and Cooper in the parody series What Just Happened?. Henry has also appeared in two Christmas TV movies A Gingerbread Romance and Mistletoe in Montana. NCIS Season 19 is available to watch on CBS in the US and Disney+ every Wednesday in the UK.
