Here's why Lacey Chabert really left Family Guy

Mean Girls is one of the most beloved teen films ever made thanks in part to its unmatched cast. For Lacey Chabert, as she streamed in an interview with Entertainment Tonight making a sequel would be a no-brainer because playing Gretchen was one of the funniest characters I've ever played. I'd like to see what she does now. It remains to be seen if The cast of Mean Girls is getting together for the much anticipated follow up but for now, we can keep watching the movie to the point of nausea. Many actors would be upset if their careers were reduced to one character but Chabert is pleased that fans continue to respond positively to Mean Girls. He assured Allure that it is still the project that people remember the most.

It just resonates I think because there are elements that everyone can relate to whether they're in high school or college or away from it or want to be. Chabert was 21 years old at the time so the movie also turned out to be a defining moment in his private life. However, it should be noted that Gretchen Weiners who were once very successful elsewhere. Chabert has a crazy Hallmark Movie career that you might not have been aware of but even outside of this lucrative franchise she's also a prolific voice actress. In fact, the alum soap operas have been working on Family Guy in the past.

Life was simply too busy for her at the moment.

Today fans know actress Mila Kunis as the voice of Meg Griffin in the series Family Guy but when the hit cartoon show began it was Lacey Chabert who provided the voice of the moody girl. Chabert played Meg during Season 1 and for much of Season 2 before leaving somewhat abruptly according to Uproxx. Despite rumors that she was fired during a 2006 conversation with GameSpy Chabert explained I left the show of my own volition. As the Mean Girls star explained she was playing around with school and appearing in Party of Five at the time so she couldn't participate in Family Guy either. However, Chapter made it clear that he loves the show regardless and has no hard feelings for Kunis for taking on the role.

However, in an interview with IGN series creator Seth MacFarlane complicated things a bit by saying that a contract error led to Chabert's departure. He admitted there was a mistake in her contract and I believe she had no intention of participating in the entire show. Although MacFarlane admits that the Hallmark Channel star did a great job in the role Kunis will always be the real Meg.

Lacey Chabert is actually a prolific voice actress.

In addition to playing Meg Griffin Lacey Chabert has also loaned her tube to several notable projects over the years. The Party of Five stars played another eager to please teenage daughter Eliza Thornberry on the lovable children's showshows The Wild Thornberrys. Elsewhere she also played Gwen Stacy the character played by Emma Stone in the live-action movie The Amazing Spider-Man as well as Casey in the animated show Bratz.

During a conversation with Entertainment Weekly Chabert opined that the voice acting really gives him more room to play with the characters than when you're restricted to his physical self. In addition, no hairdressing or makeup is usually required which is always a plus. About playing Danny Burns in Transformers Rescue Bots the actor shared I grew up with a little brother and we always watched Transformers together and he had all the toys. So I was excited and really honored to be a part of this franchise. Although it didn't work out with Family Guy Chabert found himself in constant demand elsewhere.
